Propuesta de un curso universitario de acercamiento a la Sagrada Escritura a partir de personajes bíblicos

Abstract

El educador católico del siglo XXI afronta, entre múltiples desafíos, la tarea de acercar vivencialmente la Sagrada Escritura a sus alumnos, haciendo de ella, más que un simple material de trabajo empleado durante las clases de religión. Constatamos, por la experiencia docente, en el área de educación religiosa, que la utilización que hacemos de la Palabra es, más bien, instrumental, en cuanto puede servir para validar una propuesta catequético-doctrinal que estamos proponiendo. Pocas veces, afrontamos la Sagrada Escritura en sí misma, tratando de descubrir su mensaje salvífico para nuestra vida. En definitiva, enseñamos un pasaje bíblico y no suscitamos la reflexión sobre cuál fue la situación histórica que lo generó y sobre y cómo puede actualizarse para iluminarnos hoy. Si esta constatación es real, también lo es, el desconocimiento y poco acercamiento vital que tienen nuestros profesores a la Palabra. En este sentido, este trabajo persigue favorecer en los alumnos de nuestra universidad un conocimiento de diversos personajes bíblicos y suscitar una identificación con las experiencias tan humanas que ellos vivieron. Por ello, propongo el diseño de un curso bíblico semestral que presente en paralelo los grandes acontecimientos del Antiguo y Nuevo Testamentos: Éxodo - Alianza y Resurrección – Eucaristía. A partir de estos acontecimientos se podrá entender el sentido de las Sagradas Escrituras, confrontando nuestra experiencia de fe con la de personajes bíblicos: Jeremías y Rut en el Antiguo Testamento y San Pablo, la Samaritana y los discípulos de Emaús en el Nuevo Testamento. Se pretende hacer un acercamiento a la Biblia que nos permita captar en profundidad la historia salvífica, descubrirnos a nosotros mismos dentro de ella y asumir la responsabilidad que nos corresponde cuando contemplamos el mundo y la historia desde la luz que la Biblia nos ofrece. Ahora bien, no podremos seguramente leer materialmente todos los libros de la Biblia, por ello, planteo una selección, teniendo presente que esta lectura selectiva está siempre en función de presentar la totalidad del mensaje. Pese a todo lo expuesto, no desconozco otro factor que, sin duda, puede condicionar el aprovechamiento de esta propuesta: las nuevas generaciones se caracterizan por la resistencia a hacer memoria; o, lo que es más peligroso, por considerar que memoria es la simple recuperación de datos útiles. Ante una generación que le atribuye poca relevancia al pasado, ¿qué pueden aportar estos personajes extraídos de un libro tan antiguo que narra una realidad diversa a la suya? ¿No será mejor emplear el tiempo en construir nuestra propia historia? Tendremos que respondernos afirmando que, el recordar auténtico implica recuperar las posibilidades olvidadas en el pasado como base sobre las que se edifica el presente. La sabiduría del pasado nos cuestiona, amplía nuestro horizonte y nos orienta hacia un futuro, nuevo y esperanzador. A propósito de ello, Rafael Aguirre Monasterio considera que guardar memoria de lo que ha obrado Dios a lo largo de la historia es garantía de lo que sigue obrando en cada uno de nosotros.

The Catholic educator of the 21st century faces, among multiple challenges, the task of bringing Sacred Scripture to his students experientially, making it more than a simple work material used during religion classes. We confirm, from the teaching experience, in the area of religious education, that the use we make of the Word is, rather, instrumental, insofar as it can serve to validate a catechetical-doctrinal proposal that we are proposing. Few times do we face Sacred Scripture itself, trying to discover its saving message for our lives. In short, we teach a biblical passage and we do not provoke reflection on what was the historical situation that generated it and on and how it can be updated to enlighten us today. If this observation is real, it is also true, the ignorance and little vital approach that our teachers have to the Word. In this sense, this work seeks to promote in the students of our university a knowledge of various biblical characters and arouse an identification with the very human experiences that they lived. For this reason, I propose the design of a semester biblical course that presents in parallel the great events of the Old and New Testaments: Exodus - Covenant and Resurrection - Eucharist. From these events it will be possible to understand the meaning of the Holy Scriptures, comparing our experience of faith with that of biblical characters: Jeremiah and Ruth in the Old Testament and Saint Paul, the Samaritan woman and the disciples of Emmaus in the New Testament. It is intended to make an approach to the Bible that allows us to capture in depth the salvific history, discover ourselves within it and assume the responsibility that corresponds to us when we contemplate the world and history from the light that the Bible offers us. Now, surely we cannot read materially all the books of the Bible, therefore, I propose a selection, bearing in mind that this selective reading is always in function of presenting the entire message. Despite all the above, I am not unaware of another factor that, without a doubt, can condition the use of this proposal: the new generations are characterized by their resistance to remembering; or, what is more dangerous, considering that memory is the simple recovery of useful data. Faced with a generation that attributes little relevance to the past, what can these characters, taken from a book so old that it narrates a reality different from their own, contribute? Wouldn't it be better to spend the time building our own story? We will have to respond by affirming that authentic remembering implies recovering the possibilities forgotten in the past as the basis on which the present is built. The wisdom of the past questions us, broadens our horizon and guides us towards a new and hopeful future. In this regard, Rafael Aguirre Monasterio considers that keeping a memory of what God has worked throughout history is a guarantee of what continues to work in each one of us.
